All types of studies involving human (clinical studies/trials, case studies, case series, clinical datasets, medical records, prospective studies, surveys) and animals (rats, mice, rodents, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, cats, dogs) should be approved by a formally constituted review board - Institutional Review Board or Ethics committee. The research has to confirm that ethical and legal approval was obtained prior to the commencement of the study. Human research should confirm and to be conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. Research involving animals should follow institutional, national and international guidelines for the ethical and legal use of animals and their treatment.
